Kittitas County's Super Stars

The Cle Elum-Roslyn Marimba Band

The Kittitas County Fair is once again pleased to bring back local favorites, the talented fourth and fifth graders of the Cle Elum-Roslyn Marimba Band.

Six years ago, the Cle Elum-Roslyn School District had few instruments and a limited budget to fund a music program. Inspired by a music workshop featuring marimbas, elementary music teacher Byron Wylie made a classroom set of instruments to be used in his classroom. With support from local businesses and a grant from the Kittitas County Retired Teachers Association, Bryon soon had enough money to purchase imported African hardwood to construct more instruments for the children. Parents, inspired by Byron’s dedication in promoting a music program, soon joined the effort to build instruments and help fund the project.

The Cle-Elum Roslyn Marimba Band now performs throughout the year at numerous venues, fundraisers, benefits, festivals and the Kittitas County Fair.

Ellensburg Elementary School Choirs

Kittitas County Fair welcomes Ellensburg’s own children’s choirs from Valley View, directed by Leslie Schneider; Lincoln, directed by Carol Alldredge; and, Mt. Stuart Elementary Schools, directed by Shanna Simonson. All three groups feature enthusiastic and talented 4th and 5th grade students from our three elementary schools.

Stop by the Coke Stage (Stage I) on Thursday from 3-4:30 PM, and listen to the melodic harmonies of our local boys and girls.

Na ua Nani Dancers (Beautiful Flowers)

Carol Kealohilani Cummings - Ellensburg’s own dance instructor of 38 years - leads her troupe in the exquisite rhythmic movements of the dances of Hawaii, Tahiti, Samurai, and Maori. Add to their repertoire ball room dancing and you’ll be delighted by the dips, turns and spins of Ellensburg’s light-footed artists. Carol & her students will be performing in front of the Coke Stage (Stage 1). For more information about Carol’s dance classes call 962-2212.

Rockn’ B Cloggers

Influenced by many European dance forms and Canadian step-dancing, Clogging is an American folk dance that is similar to tap dancing. Wearing tap-shoes, Cloggers make rhythmic tapping sounds to almost any kind of upbeat music including country and traditional bluegrass, rap, hip-hop, anything with a fast beat. Kittitas County Fair welcomes the Rockn’ B Cloggers to the Coke Stage (Stage I) on Friday, 5:30-6:30 PM and Saturday 12:30-1:30 PM.

Rodeo City Gymnastics

They leap, twirl, cartwheel, and flip – Ellensburg’s own boys and girls tumblers are truly amazing. Stop by the Coke Stage (Stage 1) on Thursday, 5:30-6:30 PM, and watch as Carla Ball leads her nimble gymnast through their spectacular performance.

Brad Taylor

Whoa, who’s the new cowboy in town on the black and white pony? Why it’s Brad Taylor – alias the Kittitas Kid! Don’t worry – he’s a friendly cowpoke who loves to ‘chew the fat’ and tell a yarn or two. Brad Taylor is a welcome delight at the Kittitas County Fair.

Thorp Band

A long-standing tradition is the Kittitas County Fair’s Thursday lunch, sponsored by Super One Foods. Enjoy a hot dog and soda and listen to the traditional Americana music of the Thorp Band, brought to you by Super One Foods near the Coke Stage (Stage I) at Noon.

TO 11

Kids do it best and with a big heart at the Kittitas County Fair. Welcome to the stage TO 11 an all-star band of Kittitas Secondary School students including, 8th graders Blake McBride on drums, Zack Fogle on bass, and vocalists Jeni Hudson and Kim Bolla; junior Lanese Johnson on keyboards and vocals; James Farthing on lead guitar; and Terry Johnson on guitars, keyboards, and vocals.

TO 11 began with a lot of encouragement and musical direction from Terry Johnson, Kittitas Secondary School's music and band teacher and a lot of hard work and rehearsals by the band members. The kids now perform favorite songs from the 80s, 90s, as well as current hits!

With the enthusiasm of youth, joy for life and a huge dose of commitment, TO 11 performs their music with an open heart and hand. All the proceeds they receive for their efforts go to support those in need. To date TO 11 has contributed close to $1200 for a family who lost their home to a fire, funding for the Sparrow Foundation, and collected over 350 pounds of food for the local food bank.

Kittitas County Fair is very proud to present TO 11. Rock n’ Roll!
